Play Of Light - (January 2023)

This "face" is not a carving, it is an accidental play of light from my torch landing on a hole in a sarsen. For this reason I do not state the stone number, it is irrelevant. However, this temporary face created by a random spill of light does illustrate how the presence of actual carvings on other monoliths subconsciously conditions us to see uncarved faces everywhere, faces like this apparent "skull".  I describe this process here under the heading "The True Genius Of The Neolithic Sculptors"
