Left-looking Face, Stone 102, South-East Quadrant, Avebury Henge - (September 2018)

I do wonder if this stone represents a sylized skull looking to the east, waiting for the rising sun to bring it back to life.

Ringer (p 316) has an excellent daytime image of this left-profiled face, his version appears to depict a living person, there is no contradiction, I believe the Avebury carvings often show both the living and dead.
