This striking stone appears to me to have a clear right facing face, with multiple eyes! Reminds me of Argos, the many eyed giant in Greek mythology. Wrong time, wrong culture of course, but suggests to me that many eyed figures were part of a European culture older than either Athens or Avebury. |
